For PVC pipe, visible diameter is only a small part of the inquiry. Working pressure, wall thickness, production standard, application, colour, pipe length, temperature exposure and bundling method all affect price and suitability.

For building, irrigation, drainage or industrial projects, the buyer should define the reference standard and installation conditions. A gravity drainage pipe is not the same as a pressure pipe or a pipe intended for underground use.
